BHARTI Libraries
In Hyderabad total four BHARTI libraries are being run by Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative. Among the four libraries, two are being run in communities and the other two are being run in schools. In all the four libraries total 2263 children were enrolled within which 313 were boys and 1950 were girls.

Activities conducted under the programme

Activities for the children

  • Learning to read programmes, including arithmetic
  • Learning through games, activities, songs, art, craft etc
  • Reading competitions/ quizzes for children in order to make their learning exciting and fun
Community engagement
  • Home visits are conducted by the librarian in the communities to encourage the parents to send their children to the libraries.
  • Parent teacher meetings are conducted to ensure regular attendance of students in the libraries.
Apart from the above mentioned regular programmes, the following special events are also conducted from time ti time in the libraries:
  • In the month of August competitions were conducted on the occasion of Independence Day and prizes were distributed to the winners.
  • In the month of November children's day celebrations were organized.
  • In December vidya mela was conducted for the children ranging from 3-14 years.
  • In the month of January republic day celebrations and conducted cultural programmes for the children.
Trainings
Comprehensive training was conducted for all the four librarians in the area of management of the libraries.
Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Regular monitoring was done by the Pratham staff members to ensure proper running of the libraries. External evaluation was done by the funder Bharti Foundation in the month of February.
