Pratham AP started its activities in the month of March 2005, by conducting a pilot project on Learning to Read program in 10 schools of Hyderabad District. In the month of July 2005, Pratham AP got sanction to run its. In School programme in the government schools of 8 districts of Andhra Pradesh with the total expected goal of covering about 68,000 children under its L2R programme.

Presently, Pratham AP has amounted to it having covered children across 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh in 2007- 08 with the help of about 15.000 volunteers' workforce.
