The program Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) was inaugurated on 2nd October 2007. |
| Partnerships Initiation |
The programme was to be implemented in partnership with Andhra Mahila Sabha where the State Resource Center was to support the Pratham initiative through preparation of questions papers, correction of answer sheets of enrolled students and also in terms of providing guest lectures in class. |
| Batch 1 |
During the first week of training only a few people opted for the course, though later the strength came up to 16.The course curriculum for the first batch was to be taught within the time span of October 2007 to February 2008.The course content for the respective months were as follows.
October-November |
INTRODUCTION- Historical mile stones, Significance of early childhood education, Different stake holders in early childhood education. |
November -December |
HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN-Concept of holistic development, Principles and stages of development, areas of development |
December-January |
GENERAL HEALTH- Child psychology, disabilities in children, Specific learning disabilities in children, vaccine preventable diseases and vaccination were the subject areas taught in these months. |
January-February |
Behavioral problems and guest lectures. |
February-April |
Teacher's role and revision of entire syllabus was undertaken during this period. Final theory exam dated 19/2/2008. Final practical exams dated 20/2/2008 and 21/2/2008. The results obtained were not satisfactory and so retests for the same had been conducted on 11/4/2008. The entire period from 21st February to April 10th was utilized for making the students more perfect as well as to mobilize the new students for the next batch. Results were declared at the end of April and 13 students passed out successfully denoting a 100% pass outcome. |

| Batch 2 |
The course schedule for the fresh batch of ECCE commenced from first of April. The medium was chosen to be English and the strength of the class came up to 20. Three modules out of five had been completed.
May-June |
The classes for the month were started from 20 th May because more than three fourths of the students were involved in community survey program before this date. The topics that had been covered were material preparation, activities for the school volunteers, class room practicals, balwadi / pre school goals along with creating space and environment for efficient teaching in a classroom. |
June-July: |
Parenting classes were conducted and a function was organized on 19/6/2008 for certificate distribution of the passed outs. The Chief Guest for the function was Prof. Mayuri, Child Development Department of Home Science College in Hyderabad . Mrs Laxmi from Andhra Mahila Sabha also graced the occasion along with Pratham AP's State Head Mrs Sunita Burra. |
August-September |
On August 13 th , the final exam for the second batch of ECCE was conducted. |
